We Tipped $1000 at the Restaurant where I Washed Dishes as a Kid
When I was thirteen, I got a job washing dishes at a restaurant. Thirty-five years later, I went
back there with the Best You Best Me team and the intention of doing an act of kindness.
Our server for the day was Ronner, a lovely guy, full of energy and enthusiasm. He brought us fantastic food and was generous with his time, telling us about his life, family, and challenges. We encouraged Ronner with a motivational story and a gift for the holidays. He was a perfect person to receive it! When I handed him $1000, he was elated, not only because of the money itself but also because it inspired him.
He said:
This is going to give me a memorable that one day, hopefully, I'll make it and go back where I started, as you did yourself.
As we were leaving, memories of the past came back to me, and I felt proud of my younger self for having the courage to work hard and never giving up. I also felt a sense of gratitude to God for helping me on that journey and bringing us all together to this beautiful moment.
